HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, COIII Shelly Hill has been nominated for the Lifesaver Award, a prestigious award given to members of the correctional officer community who have taken actions to save the life of another person; and

WHEREAS, On the night of November 1, 2023, at approximately 10:08 p.m., COIII Shelly Hill heard a Code 16 Medical Emergency that was called over the institutional radio system in Housing Unit #10 C-Wing of the Northeast Correctional Center in Bowling Green, Missouri; and

WHEREAS, COIII Shelly Hill and several staff members immediately leapt into action and discovered that offender Howard Chevelle was not breathing; and

WHEREAS, COIII Shelly Hill performed several rounds of CPR on the inmate, and he regained the ability to breathe approximately half an hour later; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we commend COIII Shelly Hill for going above and beyond the call of duty to save the life of another person, reflecting great merit upon herself and the entire law enforcement community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be delivered to COIII Shelly Hill as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
