HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Leyden Fire
4Protection District (LFPD) on the occasion of its 75th
5anniversary while providing outstanding service and dedication
6to Leyden Township; and
 
7    WHEREAS, The LFPD was established to create and offer fire
8protection services for the unincorporated area of Leyden
9Township on June 5, 1949; and
 
10    WHEREAS, In the beginning, the LFPD was located at the
11Belden Gas Station, possessed one Darley engine, and its
12firefighting personnel were summoned by three sirens or by
13telephone; and
 
14    WHEREAS, The LFPD's volunteer firefighters built the
15original fire station at 10628 Grand Avenue in 1950 and
16established the first ambulance service for the unincorporated
17area in 1951; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Now operating out of a station located at 2600
19North Mannheim Road, the LFPD utilizes state-of-the-art
20Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and fire equipment, tools,
21and training; and

1    WHEREAS, Today, under the leadership of Fire Chief Dr.
2Brenda K. Farlow, the LFPD consists of a highly skilled crew of
3nine career firefighters cross-trained as paramedics and three
4lieutenants, two quint fire trucks, and two ambulances that
5can be reached immediately 24 hours a day, seven days a week by
6calling 911; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
8HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
9we congratulate the Leyden Fire Protection District (LFPD) on
10providing 75 years of outstanding service and dedication to
11Leyden Township, and we commend its board of trustees and all
12those who have served the LFPD so courageously since its
13inception; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the Leyden Fire Protection District as a symbol
16of our respect and esteem.
