SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Charles Laverne Griffith of Bettendorf, Iowa, who passed away on January 24, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Charles Griffith, the son of Sidney and Ruby (Saunders) Griffith, was born in Keokuk, Iowa on March 30, 1949; he served in the U.S. Navy; and

WHEREAS, Charles Griffith, who was affectionately known as "Chuck" or "Griffer", possessed a contagious zest for life and a boundless love and dedication to his wife, Terry, and his family; and

WHEREAS, Charles Griffith's humor and his delicious, homemade family meals brightened the days of all who knew him; and

WHEREAS, Charles Griffith will be remembered for his kindness, laughter, and warmth; and

WHEREAS, Charles Griffith was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Shirley; his brothers, William and Victor; his sister, Sharon; and his son, Nathan; and

WHEREAS, Charles Griffith is survived by his wife, Terry; his stepchildren, Jeff and Deanna; his granddaughters, Kelsey and Carly (Mike); his great-granddaughter, Gracelyn; his brothers, Vincent (Teresa) and Mike (Kim); his sister, Clarice (Todd); and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Charles Laverne Griffith and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Charles Griffith as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
