AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2438

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2438, AS AMENDED, by inserting immediately above Section 5 the following:

"Section 2. The University of Illinois Hospital Act is amended by adding Section 8b as follows:

(110 ILCS 330/8b new)

Sec. 8b. Mental health services for physicians. Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, the University of Illinois Hospital shall provide mental health services to a physician providing health care services in the University of Illinois Hospital who is responsible for a medical error, including a medical error resulting in the death of a patient.

Section 4. The Hospital Licensing Act is amended by adding Section 6.27 as follows:

(210 ILCS 85/6.27 new)

Sec. 6.27. Mental health services for physicians. Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, a hospital licensed under this Act shall provide mental health services to a physician providing health care services in that hospital who is responsible for a medical error, including a medical error resulting in the death of a patient.".
