| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of George W. Kern of Colona, who passed away | 4 | | on May 20, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, George Kern was born in Lone Tree Township in | 6 | | South Dakota to Walter and Hazel Olafson Kern on September 3, | 7 | | 1924; he served in the United States Marine Corps during World | 8 | | War II; he married Betty Jean Hayes in Moline on February 3, | 9 | | 1946; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, George Kern was a police officer in Colona in his | 11 | | younger years and also worked at IH; he retired from the | 12 | | custodial department of Moline High School; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, George Kern volunteered at the Colona Food Pantry | 14 | | and enjoyed junking and tinkering in the garage; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, George Kern was preceded in death by his wife and | 16 | | his sister, Gertrude Bedford; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, George Kern is survived by his children, Larry | 18 | | (Judy) Kern, Robert Kern, and Pamela Kern; his grandchildren, | 19 | | Brian (Carmae) Kern, Kevin Kern, Christina Kern, Alexis | 20 | | Hawkins, George Kern, and Bryan Kern; and his |
