SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
625 ILCS 5/12-806  from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 12-806

    Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that whenever a school bus is operated for the purpose of transporting passengers other than persons in connection with an activity of the school or religious organization which owns the bus or whenever a school district or a school bus company under contract with a school district discards a school bus through sale or donation, the "SCHOOL BUS" signs and any other insignia or words indicating that the vehicle is a school bus shall be removed, covered, or concealed, the stop signal arm and flashing signal system shall not be operable through normal controls, and the bus shall be painted a color different from the colors required for a school bus under the Code.

1    AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing
5Section 12-806 as follows:
 
6    (625 ILCS 5/12-806)  (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 12-806)
7    Sec. 12-806. Identification, stop signal arms and special
8lighting when not used as a school bus. Except as provided in
9Section 12-806a, whenever a school bus is operated for the
10purpose of transporting passengers other than persons in
11connection with an activity of the school or religious
12organization which owns the school bus or for which the school
13bus is operated or whenever a school district or a school bus
14company under contract with a school district discards a school
15bus through sale or donation, the "SCHOOL BUS" signs and any
16other insignia or words indicating that the vehicle is a school
17bus shall be removed, covered, or concealed, and the stop
18signal arm and flashing signal system shall not be operable
19through normal controls, and the bus shall be painted a color
20different form those under Section 12-801 of this Code.
