SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
105 ILCS 5/10-20.60 new
105 ILCS 5/34-18.53 new

    Amends the School Code and the Vocational Academies Act. Requires alternative schools and charter schools to establish vocational academies for students in grades 10 through 12, in partnership with school districts, community colleges, local employers, and community-based organizations. Sets forth requirements concerning these academies. Permits the State Board of Education to adopt any rules necessary to implement and administer these provisions.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections
510-20.60 and 34-18.53 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/10-20.60 new)
7    Sec. 10-20.60. Dual enrollment and dual credit
8notification. A school board shall require the school
9district's high schools, if any, to inform all 11th and 12th
10grade students of dual enrollment and dual credit opportunities
11at public community colleges for qualified students.

13    Sec. 34-18.53. Dual enrollment and dual credit
14notification. The board shall require the district's high
15schools to inform all 11th and 12th grade students of dual
16enrollment and dual credit opportunities at public community
