AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 3520

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 3520 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the following:

"Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the Investigations of Sexual Assault in Higher Education Act.

Section 5. Investigations.

(a) As used in this Section, "sexual assault" has the meaning ascribed to it in Section 1a of the Sexual Assault Survivors Emergency Treatment Act.

(b) Municipal police with jurisdiction, or if in an unincorporated area the sheriff, shall have primary authority to investigate allegations of sexual assault at any public university or public community college located in this State. Campus police departments shall cooperate with, and provide assistance upon request to, the municipal police or the sheriff.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.".
