AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1631

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1631 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The Nurse Practice Act is amended by changing
5Section 55-30 as follows:
 
6    (225 ILCS 65/55-30)
7    (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2018)
8    Sec. 55-30. LPN scope of practice.
9    (a) Practice as a licensed practical nurse means a scope of
10basic nursing practice, with or without compensation, as
11delegated by a registered professional nurse or an advanced
12practice nurse or as directed by a physician assistant,
13physician, dentist, or podiatrist, and and includes, but is not
14limited to, all of the following:
15        (1) Collecting data and collaborating in the
16    assessment of the health status of a patient.

1        (2) Collaborating in the development and modification
2    of the registered professional nurse's or advanced
3    practice nurse's comprehensive nursing plan of care for all
4    types of patients.
5        (3) Implementing aspects of the plan of care as
6    delegated.
7        (4) Participating in health teaching and counseling to
8    promote, attain, and maintain the optimum health level of
9    patients, as delegated.
10        (5) Serving as an advocate for the patient by
11    communicating and collaborating with other health service
12    personnel, as delegated.
13        (6) Participating in the evaluation of patient
14    responses to interventions.
15        (7) Communicating and collaborating with other health
16    care professionals as delegated.
17        (8) Providing input into the development of policies
18    and procedures to support patient safety.
