AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 2693

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 2693 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the following:

"Section 5. The Nursing Home Care Act is amended by adding Section 3-202.05 as follows:

(210 ILCS 45/3-202.05 new)

Sec. 3-202.05. Automated external defibrillator required. No later than one year after the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 95th General Assembly, a facility must do all of the following:

(1) Acquire at least one automated external defibrillator ("AED"), which shall be maintained in a central location within the facility that shall be made known and available to the employees of the facility.

(2) Ensure that the AED is tested and maintained in accordance with the Automated External Defibrillator Act, and provide notification to the appropriate first aid, ambulance or rescue squad, or other appropriate emergency medical services provider regarding the AED, the type of AED acquired, and its location in the facility.

(3) Arrange for training in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and the use of the AED for employees of the facility in accordance with the Automated External Defibrillator Act.

(4) Ensure that employees of the facility comply with any other rules of the Department concerning the use of the AED.

As used in this Section, "automated external defibrillator" has the meaning attributed to that term in the Automated External Defibrillator Act.".
