SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

210 ILCS 85/6.23 new

Amends the Hospital Licensing Act. Provides that every hospital must adopt policies and procedures to ensure that, in making decisions concerning the treatment of a patient at the hospital, health care professionals must take into account the patient's religious beliefs.

AN ACT concerning regulation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Hospital Licensing Act is amended by adding Section 6.23 as follows:

(210 ILCS 85/6.23 new)

Sec. 6.23. Patient's religious beliefs. Every hospital licensed under this Act must adopt policies and procedures to ensure that, in making decisions concerning the treatment of a patient at the hospital, health care professionals must take into account the patient's religious beliefs.
