SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
60 ILCS 1/30-140

    Amends the Township Code. Removes a provision that makes a Section concerning the regulation of certain occupations applicable only in counties with a population of less than 3,000,000. Makes corresponding changes.

1     AN ACT concerning townships.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Township Code is amended by changing Section
5 30-140 as follows:
 
6     (60 ILCS 1/30-140)
7     Sec. 30-140. Regulation of certain occupations. In
8 counties with a population of less than 3,000,000, The electors
9 may regulate hawkers, peddlers, pawnbrokers, itinerant
10 merchants, and transient vendors of merchandise. The township
11 board in those counties may require that any such person
12 register his or her name and the name of any firm he or she
13 represents with the township clerk and may make reasonable
14 restrictions of the hours during which he or she may engage in
15 door-to-door solicitation. The township board in those
16 counties also may prohibit the activities of any categories of
17 persons as it determines to be in the best interest of township
18 residents. Any regulation under this Section shall not apply
19 within the boundaries of a city, village, or incorporated town.
