SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Rita M. Klaas of Meppen, who passed away on March 29, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Rita Klaas was born on November 24, 1939, in Meppen to George E. and Anna C. (Keim) Friedel; she married Alfred L. Klaas on September 24, 1966, in Meppen; and

WHEREAS, Rita Klaas was a homemaker and a retired secretary at St. Norbert's Catholic School in Hardin; she also had previously worked as a secretary for the law offices of Ralph Moses and Ed Fanning in Harden; and

WHEREAS, Rita Klaas was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Alter Society in Meppen and she was a supporter of the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging St. Joseph's Quilting Club; and

WHEREAS, Rita Klaas was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Ethel Lehr; and her brothers, Paul, Aloys, Ed, and Brother Norbert Friedel; and

WHEREAS, Rita Klaas is survived by her daughter, Mary Helen (Ted) Schulte; her sons, Greg (Sheryl) Klaas, Kevin (Victoria) Klaas, and Brett (Jennifer) Klaas; her grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emily, Delani, and Camryn Klaas and Emily Laird; her brothers, Charlie (Hazel), Gabe (Linda), George (Agnes), Joe (Juanita), and Pat (Sharon) Friedel; her sister, Sister Mary Gabriel; and her sisters-in-law, Melba, Cecil, and Audrey Friedel and Virgie Tepen; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Rita Klaas and we extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rita Klaas as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
