SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Sharon Kimmons of Athens, who passed
4away on January 18, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Sharon Kimmons was born to Everett L. and Louise
6(Wampler) Scehnet on January 3, 1939; she married Don L.
7Kimmons in Decatur on April 5, 1958; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Sharon Kimmons was employed by the State of
9Illinois for 30 years, working for the Bureau of the Budget,
10the Office of the Comptroller, and the Department of Revenue
11before retiring in 1999; and
 
12    WHEREAS, After retiring, Sharon Kimmons volunteered at
13Lawrence Education Center, Central Illinois Food Bank's Kids'
14Café, and Contact Ministries; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Sharon Kimmons was a member of the Athens
16Christian Church and the Menard County Youth Mentoring
17Association for several years; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Sharon Kimmons was preceded in death by her
19husband; her infant daughter, Kimberly Sue; her brothers, Ron
20Scehnet and Dick Scehnet; and her sisters, Phyllis Stateler

1and Judy Scehnet; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Sharon Kimmons is survived by her children,
3Donald Kevin (Bernice) Kimmons and Susan (George) Nielsen; her
4grandson, Greg (Crystal) Kimmons; her great-grandchildren,
5Wesley Kimmons and Taylor Kimmons; her sister, Betty (Richard)
6Wolverton; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins;
7therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Sharon Kimmons and extend our sincere condolences to her
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Sharon Kimmons as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
