SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Sharon Kimmons of Athens, who passed away on January 18, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Sharon Kimmons was born to Everett L. and Louise (Wampler) Scehnet on January 3, 1939; she married Don L. Kimmons in Decatur on April 5, 1958; and

WHEREAS, Sharon Kimmons was employed by the State of Illinois for 30 years, working for the Bureau of the Budget, the Office of the Comptroller, and the Department of Revenue before retiring in 1999; and

WHEREAS, After retiring, Sharon Kimmons volunteered at Lawrence Education Center, Central Illinois Food Bank's Kids' Café, and Contact Ministries; and

WHEREAS, Sharon Kimmons was a member of the Athens Christian Church and the Menard County Youth Mentoring Association for several years; and

WHEREAS, Sharon Kimmons was preceded in death by her husband; her infant daughter, Kimberly Sue; her brothers, Ron Scehnet and Dick Scehnet; and her sisters, Phyllis Stateler and Judy Scehnet; and

WHEREAS, Sharon Kimmons is survived by her children, Donald Kevin (Bernice) Kimmons and Susan (George) Nielsen; her grandson, Greg (Crystal) Kimmons; her great-grandchildren, Wesley Kimmons and Taylor Kimmons; her sister, Betty (Richard) Wolverton; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Sharon Kimmons and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Sharon Kimmons as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
