SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Captain Eleanor "Ellie" LeBeau Cooke
4of Belleville, who passed away on August 27, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Capt. Cooke was the daughter of David and
6Victoria LeBeau, and she was the fifth of eight children; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Capt. Cooke attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic
8School and Althoff Catholic High School, both in Belleville;
9she graduated from Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky
10in 2016, where she was a member of the dance team; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Capt. Cooke served as a pilot in the U.S. Marine
12Corps; she was commissioned on August 11, 2018 and promoted to
13captain on March 1, 2023; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Through the U.S. Marine Corps, Capt. Cooke met
15her husband, fellow pilot Chase Cooke; they were married at
16St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Louis, Missouri; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Capt. Cooke served with distinction, setting
18forth the same zeal and commitment she gave to everything; she
19will be remembered for bringing joy, exuberance, and an
20abundance of love into the world; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3Captain Eleanor "Ellie" LeBeau Cooke and extend our sincere
4condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
5her; and be it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Capt. Cooke as an expression of our
8deepest sympathy.
