SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of William D. "Bill" Sexton of Bloomington, who passed away on October 4, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Bill Sexton was born in Mohegan, West Virginia to John Foster and Susie Katheline (Perry) Sexton on August 3, 1932; he served in the United States Army in Korea and married Virginia Sue Hatfield in Tazewell, Virginia on July 12, 1952; and

WHEREAS, Bill Sexton worked in the trucking industry before starting his own business, Sexton's Pack & Load, which he ran until his retirement in 2012; and

WHEREAS, Bill Sexton enjoyed the outdoors, especially boating, hunting, and fishing, and spending time with his family; and

WHEREAS, Bill Sexton was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; six sisters; his sons, William Anthony "Tony" Sexton and Gary Don Sexton; and his grandson, Travis Peak; and

WHEREAS, Bill Sexton is survived by his wife of 68 years, Virginia; his daughter, Sandra (Carl) Swift; his sister, Betty Sue "Frankie" King; his daughter-in-law, Tannis (Morril) Sexton; his grandchildren, Asa Sexton, Naomi Sexton, Ezra Sexton, Brandy (Jacob) Boyd, Conward Swift, Michael Swift, Jeremy Peak, Sheree Peak, and Melissa Sexton; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of William D. "Bill" Sexton and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bill Sexton as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
