SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Sharon Robbins, who passed away on April 4, 2017 at the age of 93; and

WHEREAS, Sharon Robbins served as co-chair of the Northshore Panel of American Women from 1967 to 1970 which was designed to confront historically difficult issues on race, religion, and gender, and to open a positive dialogue amongst all people; she maintained her friendship and devotion to her fellow panelists and the fight for civil rights for over 50 years; she was named the 2012 Volunteer of the Year by Glenkirk for her work with the developmentally disabled; and

WHEREAS, Sharon Robbins took up painting in the last five years of her life; and

WHEREAS, Sharon Robbins was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Dr. Fred Robbins; and

WHEREAS, Sharon Robbins is survived by her children, Bruce (Shelley), Mark (Chris), and Joni (Marc) Mirsky; her grandchildren, Jessica (Adam) Hitchell, Mathew Robbins, Erin (Jeffrey) Robbins, Jeffrey, Zachary, and Alexandra Mirsky, and Brian Lueders; her great-grandchildren, Gavin, Lucas, Emmett, Reed, and Ryder; and her brother, Arthur (Dottie) Apple; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Sharon Robbins, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Sharon Robbins as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
