| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Frances P. Yarbrough Jackson of Kankakee, | 4 | | who passed away on October 5, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Frances Jackson was born in Somerville, Tennessee | 6 | | to Linual and Pearl Somerville Yarbrough; she committed to her | 7 | | faith at an early age at Tuckers Baptist Church in Mason, | 8 | | Tennessee, where she served in the ministry of song in the | 9 | | choir; she moved to Kankakee and married Roosevelt Jackson; she | 10 | | was a strong woman with a servant's heart; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Frances Jackson served her community in countless | 12 | | ways; she was an alderman for the 7th Ward; she was a beloved | 13 | | landlord, restaurant owner, and neighborhood candy store | 14 | | owner; she assisted many people with obtaining employment, | 15 | | paying bills, and achieving their goals; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Frances Jackson was a member of the County Board, | 17 | | the Housing Authority, and KCCSI; she often dressed up as Santa | 18 | | Claus and handed out toys to children; she was a strong voice | 19 | | for those who might have otherwise been silenced; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Frances Jackson was preceded in death by her | 21 | | parents; her husband, Roosevelt; her son Albert Keith; her |
