SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Frances P. Yarbrough Jackson of Kankakee,
4who passed away on October 5, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Frances Jackson was born in Somerville, Tennessee
6to Linual and Pearl Somerville Yarbrough; she committed to her
7faith at an early age at Tuckers Baptist Church in Mason,
8Tennessee, where she served in the ministry of song in the
9choir; she moved to Kankakee and married Roosevelt Jackson; she
10was a strong woman with a servant's heart; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Frances Jackson served her community in countless
12ways; she was an alderman for the 7th Ward; she was a beloved
13landlord, restaurant owner, and neighborhood candy store
14owner; she assisted many people with obtaining employment,
15paying bills, and achieving their goals; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Frances Jackson was a member of the County Board,
17the Housing Authority, and KCCSI; she often dressed up as Santa
18Claus and handed out toys to children; she was a strong voice
19for those who might have otherwise been silenced; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Frances Jackson was preceded in death by her
21parents; her husband, Roosevelt; her son Albert Keith; her

5    WHEREAS, Frances Jackson is survived by her children,
6Dewraine Denise Williamson, Tijuana Joyce (Charles) Warren,
7Julius Sylvester Warren, Larry Edward (Kathleen) Warren Sr.,
8Ronald Lee (Andrea) Jackson; her many grandchildren and
9great-grandchildren; her sister, Shirley (Peter) Smith; and
10her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be
11it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Frances P. Yarbrough Jackson and extend our sincere condolences
15to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
16it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Frances Jackson as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
