SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Raymond Rayburn Mayfield who passed away on June 30, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Rayburn Mayfield was born in Waukegan to Postel and Rosie Mayfield on August 19, 1950; he played AAU basketball in his youth and graduated from North Chicago Community High School; he married Linda Taylor on November 3, 1974; and

WHEREAS, Rayburn Mayfield was a member of Zion Temple Church of God in Christ in Zion; and

WHEREAS, Rayburn Mayfield was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs; his pride and joy was his orange '57 Chevy, which was admired by many sports car enthusiasts; he loved soul music, especially The Temptations; and

WHEREAS, Rayburn Mayfield was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, William Mayfield; his sister, Pearl Medley; and his sons, Shawn Taylor, Tony Craigen, and Tremaine Taylor; and

WHEREAS, Rayburn Mayfield is survived by wife, Linda; his son, Kwantez Mayfield; his sisters, Mae Berta Poole and Gloria Carr; his brother, John Mayfield; and his many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Raymond Rayburn Mayfield and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and those who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rayburn Mayfield as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
