SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert G. Popp of Crystal Lake, who passed away on October 10, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Robert Popp was born in Frohna, Missouri to Elmer M. and Flora (Oswald) Popp on March 18, 1936; he graduated from Concordia Teachers College; he later received a Master's Degree in Outdoor Education from Northern Illinois University; he married Lois Ward on June 4, 1960; and

WHEREAS, Robert Popp spent 37 years as a teacher, principal, athletic director, and youth minister at Immanuel Lutheran School; and

WHEREAS, Robert Popp was happiest outdoors: traveling, camping, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, bird watching, and working in his yard; he enjoyed woodworking, billiards, and the Chicago Cubs; he loved his family, friends, and students; and

WHEREAS, Robert Popp was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Clarence Popp; his sister, Betty Popp; and his brother-in-law, Nelson Preusser; and

WHEREAS, Robert Popp is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lois; his son, Timothy (Lainie) Popp; his beloved grandchildren, Nathan and Amanda Popp; his mother-in-law, Eleanor Ward; his sisters, Marian Preusser, Bernice (Norman) Loebs, and Carolyn Popp; his brother, Jim Popp; his sisters-in-law, Leanor Popp and Sandra Klein; and his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert G. Popp and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Popp as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
