SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert G. Popp of Crystal Lake, who
4passed away on October 10, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Popp was born in Frohna, Missouri to Elmer
6M. and Flora (Oswald) Popp on March 18, 1936; he graduated from
7Concordia Teachers College; he later received a Master's Degree
8in Outdoor Education from Northern Illinois University; he
9married Lois Ward on June 4, 1960; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Robert Popp spent 37 years as a teacher,
11principal, athletic director, and youth minister at Immanuel
12Lutheran School; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Robert Popp was happiest outdoors: traveling,
14camping, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, bird watching, and
15working in his yard; he enjoyed woodworking, billiards, and the
16Chicago Cubs; he loved his family, friends, and students; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Robert Popp was preceded in death by his parents;
18his brother, Clarence Popp; his sister, Betty Popp; and his
19brother-in-law, Nelson Preusser; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Robert Popp is survived by his wife of 57 years,

1Lois; his son, Timothy (Lainie) Popp; his beloved
2grandchildren, Nathan and Amanda Popp; his mother-in-law,
3Eleanor Ward; his sisters, Marian Preusser, Bernice (Norman)
4Loebs, and Carolyn Popp; his brother, Jim Popp; his
5sisters-in-law, Leanor Popp and Sandra Klein; and his many
6nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Robert G. Popp and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Robert Popp as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
