HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Mother McAuley High School Volleyball Team, the Mighty Macs, on winning the 2016 Illinois High School Association Class 4A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, The Mighty Macs won a record 15th State championship with a 25-19, 19-25, and 25-19 win against Minooka in the final at Redbird Arena in Normal; and

WHEREAS, The Mighty Macs, the #1 volleyball team in the country, are now once again, #1 in the State; and

WHEREAS, The Mighty Macs finished with a record of 40 wins and one loss, with 32 consecutive victories to end the season; and

WHEREAS, The Mighty Macs are USA Today and MaxPreps National Champions; and

WHEREAS, The Mighty Macs are the top-ranked squad in the nation by prepvolleyball.com, MaxPreps, and USA Today; and

WHEREAS, The Mighty Macs have won two championships in 12 years, 2016 and 2013; they won two titles in the 2000s, four in the 1990s, six in the 1980s, and one in the 1970s; 15 State volleyball titles, is the most by any school in Illinois, and the second for Coach Jen Dejarld; and

WHEREAS, Under the guidance of Coach Jen Dejarld and Meg Gardner, the Mighty Macs, including Maddie Dederichs, Ashley Maher, Charley Niego, Abby O'Brien, Paige Pappas, Katie O'Connell, Evie Gorman, Marykate Boland, Bridget Burke, Amanda Horn, Nancy Kane, Emma Reilly, Nora Burke, Casey Macander, Moira Mixan, and Becca Stepanek, along with managers, Caitlin Zintak, and Kayla Tilkes, have proven themselves to be not only "world-class athletes", but also "world-class young ladies"; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Mother McAuley High School Volleyball Team, the Mighty Macs, on winning the 2016 Illinois High School Association Class 4A State Championship, and we wish them many more successful seasons; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the Mighty Macs as an expression of our esteem and respect.
