HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Mother McAuley High
4School Volleyball Team, the Mighty Macs, on winning the 2016
5Illinois High School Association Class 4A State Championship;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, The Mighty Macs won a record 15th State
8championship with a 25-19, 19-25, and 25-19 win against Minooka
9in the final at Redbird Arena in Normal; and
 
10    WHEREAS, The Mighty Macs, the #1 volleyball team in the
11country, are now once again, #1 in the State; and
 
12    WHEREAS, The Mighty Macs finished with a record of 40 wins
13and one loss, with 32 consecutive victories to end the season;
14and
 
15    WHEREAS, The Mighty Macs are USA Today and MaxPreps
16National Champions; and
 
17    WHEREAS, The Mighty Macs are the top-ranked squad in the
18nation by prepvolleyball.com, MaxPreps, and USA Today; and
 
19    WHEREAS, The Mighty Macs have won two championships in 12

1years, 2016 and 2013; they won two titles in the 2000s, four in
2the 1990s, six in the 1980s, and one in the 1970s; 15 State
3volleyball titles, is the most by any school in Illinois, and
4the second for Coach Jen Dejarld; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Under the guidance of Coach Jen Dejarld and Meg
6Gardner, the Mighty Macs, including Maddie Dederichs, Ashley
7Maher, Charley Niego, Abby O'Brien, Paige Pappas, Katie
8O'Connell, Evie Gorman, Marykate Boland, Bridget Burke, Amanda
9Horn, Nancy Kane, Emma Reilly, Nora Burke, Casey Macander,
10Moira Mixan, and Becca Stepanek, along with managers, Caitlin
11Zintak, and Kayla Tilkes, have proven themselves to be not only
12"world-class athletes", but also "world-class young ladies";
13therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
15HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
16congratulate the Mother McAuley High School Volleyball Team,
17the Mighty Macs, on winning the 2016 Illinois High School
18Association Class 4A State Championship, and we wish them many
19more successful seasons; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
21presented to the Mighty Macs as an expression of our esteem and
22respect.
