SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Perry Coleman, Jr. of Waukegan, who passed away on May 20, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Perry Coleman, Jr. was born on October 14, 1942 in Birmingham, Alabama; and

WHEREAS, Perry Coleman, Jr. retired from the Lake County Sheriff's Department in 2005 after 37 1/2 years of service; he is celebrated as being the first African-American Deputy Sheriff of Lake County; and

WHEREAS, Perry Coleman, Jr. is survived by his loving wife, Wyonia Coleman; a daughter, Sheryl Eileen Shelby; 2 grandchildren, April Coleman and Justin Coleman; 4 great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Ingram; a brother, Willie James Coleman; 4 step-daughters; 4 step-grandchildren; 2 uncles; 3 brothers-in-law; 3 sisters-in-law; and many other family members, friends, and co-workers; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Perry Coleman, Jr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Perry Coleman, Jr. as an expression of our sympathy.
