SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Albert G. Hicks of Marengo, who passed away on November 9, 2016 at the age of 74; and

WHEREAS, Albert Hicks was born in Schenectady, New York, to Merton and Marie (Fowler) Hicks; his family later moved to Edmore, Michigan; he graduated from Michigan Technological University in 1965; and

WHEREAS, Albert Hicks was employed by Arnold Magnetic Technologies Corporation as a metallurgical engineer in Marengo for 42 years, retiring in 2007; he loved his work and the people with whom he worked, continuing to consult as needed after his retirement; and

WHEREAS, Albert Hicks served in various clubs, organizations, and volunteer roles; he was formerly in the Marengo Lion's Club, a member of the Marengo Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. #138, and was a former Tebala Shriner; he had also been a member of the Marengo Park District Board and the City of Marengo Planning and Zoning Committee; he served as Trustee for St. John's Lutheran Church and as a Director of Prairie Community Bank; he had been recently volunteering at the M.O.R.E. Center (Food Pantry) in Marengo; and

WHEREAS, Albert Hicks enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, camping, bicycling, reading, and spending any time he could with family; he enjoyed taking family vacations and spending time with his dogs; he was a genuinely kind man who had a great smile, loving spirit, and was loved by all; and

WHEREAS, Albert Hicks was preceded in death by his parents, Merton and Marie Hicks; and a sister-in-law, Cynthia Hicks; and

WHEREAS, Albert Hicks is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sandra (Wolf) Hicks; his children, Lesley (Jay) Pace and Mollie (Mike) Huron; his grandchildren, Anna and Jonah Pace; his brother, Harry (Pat) Hicks; his sister Patricia (Douglas) Donovan; his niece and nephews; his great-nieces and great-nephews and many very good friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Albert G. Hicks, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Albert Hicks as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
