SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Albert G. Hicks of Marengo, who passed
4away on November 9, 2016 at the age of 74; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Albert Hicks was born in Schenectady, New York, to
6Merton and Marie (Fowler) Hicks; his family later moved to
7Edmore, Michigan; he graduated from Michigan Technological
8University in 1965; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Albert Hicks was employed by Arnold Magnetic
10Technologies Corporation as a metallurgical engineer in
11Marengo for 42 years, retiring in 2007; he loved his work and
12the people with whom he worked, continuing to consult as needed
13after his retirement; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Albert Hicks served in various clubs,
15organizations, and volunteer roles; he was formerly in the
16Marengo Lion's Club, a member of the Marengo Masonic Lodge A.F. &
17 A.M. #138, and was a former Tebala Shriner; he had also been
18a member of the Marengo Park District Board and the City of
19Marengo Planning and Zoning Committee; he served as Trustee for
20St. John's Lutheran Church and as a Director of Prairie
21Community Bank; he had been recently volunteering at the
22M.O.R.E. Center (Food Pantry) in Marengo; and

1    WHEREAS, Albert Hicks enjoyed spending time with his
2grandchildren, camping, bicycling, reading, and spending any
3time he could with family; he enjoyed taking family vacations
4and spending time with his dogs; he was a genuinely kind man
5who had a great smile, loving spirit, and was loved by all; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Albert Hicks was preceded in death by his parents,
7Merton and Marie Hicks; and a sister-in-law, Cynthia Hicks; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Albert Hicks is survived by his wife of 49 years,
9Sandra (Wolf) Hicks; his children, Lesley (Jay) Pace and Mollie
10(Mike) Huron; his grandchildren, Anna and Jonah Pace; his
11brother, Harry (Pat) Hicks; his sister Patricia (Douglas)
12Donovan; his niece and nephews; his great-nieces and
13great-nephews and many very good friends; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
16family and friends, mourn the passing of Albert G. Hicks, and
17extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all
18who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Albert Hicks as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
