SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Cyril Henry Goetten of Jerseyville, who passed away on July 25, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Cyril Goetten was born in Fieldon on July 5, 1917 to Anthony and Elizabeth (nee Beiermann) Goetten; he married Margaret C. Pohlman in Carrollton on June 14, 1950; and

WHEREAS, Cyril Goetten was employed at Olin Corp. for 42 years, but was a farmer at heart; he began farming as a young boy and continued to do what he loved until retiring at the age of 94; and

WHEREAS, Cyril Goetten was a dedicated member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville; he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 492, and the VFW, all in Jerseyville; and

WHEREAS, Cyril Goetten was preceded in death by his parents and his 2 sisters, Bernadine Huebener and Genevieve Goetten; and

WHEREAS, Cyril Goetten is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret; his 3 sons and daughters-in-law, John and Connie Goetten, Thomas and Nancy Goetten, and Timothy and Diana Goetten; his 5 grandchildren and their spouses, Chad and Lynn Goetten, Tiffany and Matt Williams, Christopher Goetten, Alex Goetten, and Andrew Goetten; and his 6 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Cyril Henry Goetten, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Cyril Goetten as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
