SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Shirley A. Sonnenberg of Collinsville, who passed away on October 30, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Shirley Sonnenberg was born in Litchfield on June 30, 1935 to Cecil and Fern (nee Doolin) Cooper; and

WHEREAS, Shirley Sonnenberg enjoyed being a wife, mother, and homemaker; and

WHEREAS, Shirley Sonnenberg was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Collinsville; she was also a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and the YMCA of Edwardsville; she was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and an overall sports fan; and

WHEREAS, Shirley Sonnenberg was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her parents; her son, Michael Sonnenberg; and 2 sisters, Betty Putty and LaVerne Murphy; and

WHEREAS, Shirley Sonnenberg is survived by her son, Don (Lynn) Sonnenberg; 3 daughters, Vickie O'Neill, Pat (Tony) Frey, and Debbie Mitchell; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Shirley A. Sonnenberg, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Shirley Sonnenberg as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
