SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Caroline Louise Edwards, who passed away on March 5, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Caroline Edwards was born on December 11, 1919, in Grandview, Washington; her parents were Mildred and Harry Edwin Hagerman; she married Harold Russell Edwards on January 29, 1944; and

WHEREAS, In the summer of 1936, Caroline Edwards and her family relocated to Waukegan, where she met her future husband; after graduating from Waukegan Township High School in 1938, she attended Lake Forest College, where she earned her bachelor's degree in May of 1942; after college, she taught grade school for 2 years in Waukegan while her fiance served in the United States Navy; after her children were born and attending school, she re-entered the teaching corps in Waukegan, where she serve faithfully for many years; in 2008, she sold her house of 57 years and moved to Lake Forest Place; and

WHEREAS, Caroline Edwards enjoyed spending time with her family, taking cruises in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean with her husband, playing bridge, and attending book clubs; and

WHEREAS, Caroline Edwards was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; and her sisters, Helen Marie Hagerman and Jean Kinder; and

WHEREAS, Caroline Edwards is survived by her sons, Harold Jr. (Roberta) and Richard; her grandchildren, Laura (Michael) Mendyke, Beth Edwards, Erin (Bill) Kerbox, Bronwyn (Scott) Wooley, and Colin (Heather) Edwards; her 5 great-grandchildren; and her 2 nieces and 4 nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Caroline Louise Edwards; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Caroline Edwards as an expression of our sympathy.
