SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Frederic Gamble Lauder, who passed away on May 5, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Frederic Lauder was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on July 18, 1927 to Charles and Florence (nee Gamble) Lauder; his family settled in Monmouth where he was a star athlete in high school, excelling at track and football; he served in the United States Navy and graduated from Knox College in Galesburg, where he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity; he married Mary Ann Way on August 14, 1950; and

WHEREAS, Frederic Lauder earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Northwestern University in Evanston and he and his wife moved to Bloomington in 1953 where he opened up a general dentistry practice; in 1958, he received his degree in orthodontics at the University of Illinois and began a 30-year practice of orthodontia; and

WHEREAS, During retirement, Frederic Lauder and his wife enjoyed time in Northern Michigan, at the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, Florida, and at their final home at the Sandhill Cove Retirement Community in Palm City, Florida, with stops in between in Bloomington; and

WHEREAS, Frederic Lauder was an avid golfer and reader and enjoyed history and traveling around the world with his wife and friends; and

WHEREAS, Frederic Lauder was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, (Charles Jr.); his sister, Harriet Lauder Hopkins; and great-grandson, Jackson Santoro; and

WHEREAS, Frederic Lauder is survived by his wife, Mary; 5 children, Molly (Scott) Harrison and their children, Anne Santoro, Jane Harrison, and Amy Kline; Ted (Carol) and their children, John and Jackie; Bob (Carol) and their children, Rob, Mary, and Steven; Jane (Craig) Karraker and their children, Allison, Reid, and Molly; and Jim (Koni) and their children, Hannah and Nicholas; 3 great-grandchildren, Finn, Sophia, and Emmett Santoro; and his sister, Louise (Jim) McVey; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Frederic Gamble Lauder, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Frederic Lauder as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
