SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Frederic Gamble Lauder, who passed away
4on May 5, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Frederic Lauder was born in Minneapolis,
6Minnesota on July 18, 1927 to Charles and Florence (nee Gamble)
7Lauder; his family settled in Monmouth where he was a star
8athlete in high school, excelling at track and football; he
9served in the United States Navy and graduated from Knox
10College in Galesburg, where he was a member of the Beta Theta
11Pi fraternity; he married Mary Ann Way on August 14, 1950; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Frederic Lauder earned his Doctor of Dental
13Surgery degree from Northwestern University in Evanston and he
14and his wife moved to Bloomington in 1953 where he opened up a
15general dentistry practice; in 1958, he received his degree in
16orthodontics at the University of Illinois and began a 30-year
17practice of orthodontia; and
 
18    WHEREAS, During retirement, Frederic Lauder and his wife
19enjoyed time in Northern Michigan, at the Ocean Reef Club in
20Key Largo, Florida, and at their final home at the Sandhill
21Cove Retirement Community in Palm City, Florida, with stops in
22between in Bloomington; and

1    WHEREAS, Frederic Lauder was an avid golfer and reader and
2enjoyed history and traveling around the world with his wife
3and friends; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Frederic Lauder was preceded in death by his
5parents; his brother, (Charles Jr.); his sister, Harriet Lauder
6Hopkins; and great-grandson, Jackson Santoro; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Frederic Lauder is survived by his wife, Mary; 5
8children, Molly (Scott) Harrison and their children, Anne
9Santoro, Jane Harrison, and Amy Kline; Ted (Carol) and their
10children, John and Jackie; Bob (Carol) and their children, Rob,
11Mary, and Steven; Jane (Craig) Karraker and their children,
12Allison, Reid, and Molly; and Jim (Koni) and their children,
13Hannah and Nicholas; 3 great-grandchildren, Finn, Sophia, and
14Emmett Santoro; and his sister, Louise (Jim) McVey; therefore,
15be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Frederic Gamble Lauder, and extend our sincere condolences to
19his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
