SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Gary J. Gabel of Palatine, who passed away on April 24, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Gary Gabel was born on August 27, 1957 in Chicago; his parents were John and Dorris (nee Fuhr) Gabel; and

WHEREAS, Gary Gabel graduated from Crystal Lake High School in 1975; he subsequently graduated in 1978 from North Park College in Chicago with a degree in business; and

WHEREAS, Gary Gabel worked as a benefits consultant at Group Alternatives for 22 years; and

WHEREAS, Gary Gabel was an active member of the Orchard Evangelical Free Church; he was a member of the church's choir and often sang solos with one of his two daughters; he was also involved with church youth groups and the leadership team; and

WHEREAS, Gary Gabel and his wife shared a passion for travel and music; they were also members of the Chicago Master Singers; and

WHEREAS, Gary Gabel was preceded in death by his mother, Dorris Gabel; his father-in-law, Walton Hultstrand; and his father, John (Patricia) Gabel, II; and

WHEREAS, Gary Gabel is survived by his wife, Betty (nee Hultstrand); 2 daughters, Kristen Gabel and Beth (Jared) Miller; a daughter-in-law, Theresa Gabel; a granddaughter, Laila Grace Gabel; a sister, Faye (Robert) Kubacha; 2 brothers, Glen (Jill) Gabel and Grant (Julie) Gabel; and his mother-in-law, Carol Hultstrand; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Gary J. Gabel; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gary Gabel as an expression of our sympathy.
