SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

40 ILCS 5/2-101.1 new

Amends the General Assembly Article of the Illinois Pension Code. Provides that no participant shall accrue service credit on or after January 14, 2015, and no member shall become a participant on or after January 14, 2015.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Pension Code is amended by adding Section 2-101.1 as follows:

(40 ILCS 5/2-101.1 new)

Sec. 2-101.1. Elimination of benefit accruals; termination of participation in system. Notwithstanding any other law, no participant shall accrue service credit under this Article on or after January 14, 2015, and no member shall become a participant on or after January 14, 2015.
