SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Nancy June Scaife Beatty of Springfield, who passed away on March 7, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Beatty was born in Springfield to William A. and Florence Bessie Maurer on December 19, 1928; she graduated from Springfield High School and attended Brown's Business College; she married Donald Lee Beatty; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Beatty worked at the Federated Funeral Directors in Springfield; she retired in 1992 from the Illinois State Senate as a legislative secretary after more than 20 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Beatty Nancy was a member of West Side Christian Church and the Red Hat Society; she enjoyed traveling and arts and crafts; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Beatty was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, and her son, Thomas Scaife; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Beatty is survived by her children, Rick (Cathy) Scaife and Steven (Sue) Scaife; her stepchildren, Dianne (Ed) Leach, Bonnie (Dave) Willis, Brian (Deb) Beatty, and Susan (Mark) Hurley; her grandchildren, Todd (Angela) Scaife, Andrea (Jason) Jordan, Chad Scaife, Ashley (Chris) Calhoun, Courtney (Danny) McGee, Jessica (Scott) Scaife, and Joshua (Cheyenne) Scaife; her 16 step-grandchildren; her 57 great-grandchildren; her brother, William C. Maurer; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Nancy June Scaife Beatty and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Nancy Beatty as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
