SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ned Scott Bennett of Lewiston, who passed away on June 18, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Ned Bennett was born to Ned and Dorothy (Kline) Bennett in Canton on February 20, 1947; he served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam; and

WHEREAS, Ned Bennett worked for International Harvester in Canton and the Caterpillar Tractor Company in Peoria; he retired from the Illinois River Correctional Facility in 2009; and

WHEREAS, Ned Bennett was a member of the American Legion in Lewistown, VFW Post #5001 in Lewistown, and the Masonic Lodge; and

WHEREAS, Ned Bennett's passion in life was his family farm, where he grew corn and soy beans and raised cattle; and

WHEREAS, Ned Bennett was preceded in death by his parents and his niece, Mary Sue Black; and

WHEREAS, Ned Bennett is survived by his brother, Kline (the late Edie) Bennett; his nieces, Stacy (Brad) Beard, Stephine Bennett, and Sheri (Mike Thompson) Bennett; his late niece's husband, John Black; and several great-nieces and great-nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Ned Scott Bennett and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ned Bennett as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
