SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Carol Joy Bumgarner of Chatham, who passed away on April 10, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Carol Joy Bumgarner was born to Edsel and Mary Margaret Clark Gilreath in Springfield on December 9, 1947; and

WHEREAS, Carol Bumgarner worked at Horace Mann for over 30 years until her retirement; and

WHEREAS, Carol Bumgarner volunteered at Lincoln Memorial Gardens and the hospice program at St. John's Hospital; and

WHEREAS, Carol Bumgarner was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Geneva Clem; and

WHEREAS, Carol Bumgarner is survived by her son, Matthew Bumgarner; her daughter, Mandie (TJ) Henson; her grandsons, Sawyer and AJ Henson; her sisters, Grace Wisniewski, Malinda Paine, Jessica Sharp, and Amy Gilreath; her brother, Michael Gilreath; and her several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Carol Joy Bumgarner and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Carol Bumgarner as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
