SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Marvin Le Roy McDonald of Danville, who passed away on May 22, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Marvin McDonald was born on April 1, 1936 to Harry and Norma (nee Baker) McDonald; he graduated from Shelbyville High School and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign; he married Mary Jo Dunavan on December 27, 1959; and

WHEREAS, Marvin McDonald worked in education for over 30 years, beginning as a high school agriculture and biology teacher for one year; he was a high school principal at Chrisman Manteno Chenoa High School; he retired from Bismarck-Henning High School; and

WHEREAS, Marvin McDonald was a member of Old Union Church of Christ, later becoming a charter member of CrossRoads Christian Church; he was a Master Gardener and enjoyed planting and being in his garden; he was a member of the Illinois Kennel Club, a leader with 4-H, and a member of the Bismarck Lions Club; he was a faithful Cardinals fan and loved the Illini, but he was most proud of all Bismarck Henning High School events; and

WHEREAS, Marvin McDonald was preceded in death by Don and Soni Dunavan; his parents; and his 2 brothers Lyle and Marion; and

WHEREAS, Marvin McDonald is survived by his wife, Mary; his son, Scott (Leslie) McDonald; his daughter, Karen (Marc) Holycross; his grandson, Jacob Holycross; his granddaughter, Stephanie (Doug) Lampley; his 2 great-grandchildren, Sydney and Gretchen; his brother, Delmar (Jane) McDonald; his 4 sisters, Ilene (Lester) Whitlatch, Irene (Clarence) Schmitz, Mildred (Al) Reed, and Ruby (Dick) Hamilton; his brother-in-law, Dan (Kathy) Dunavan; and his 2 sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Shirley McDonald; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Marvin Le Roy McDonald, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marvin McDonald as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
