SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Richard R. "Dick" Bell of Wood River, who passed away on November 16, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Richard Bell was born in Saint Louis, Missouri on November 23, 1926, to Marion Russell and Marguerite C. (Schmidt) Bell; he married Patricia A. Worcester in 1948; and

WHEREAS, Richard Bell served his country in the Navy; he graduated from the University of Illinois and became a partner in Worcester and Bell Construction Company; and

WHEREAS, Richard Bell belonged to the Wood River Rotary Club, where he was recognized as a "Paul Harris Fellow" and maintained perfect attendance for more than 40 years; he served the St. Louis Regional Airport as Commissioner; he was a member of the St. Louis Zoo, the Boy Scouts of America since 1987, the Wood River Library Board, the Wood River Chamber of Commerce; he served as a Wood River Heritage Council Contributor to the Historic Chapel, the Wood River Police and Fire Commissioner, and as a member of the boards of the First National Bank of Wood River, Magna Bank, and Regions Bank; and

WHEREAS, Richard Bell was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; and

WHEREAS, Richard Bell is survived by his sister, Marjorie J. Bell Grufman; his brother, William F. Bell; his son, Paul Michael (Lisa) Bell; his daughter, Mary Bell; his grandchildren, Melissa Bell (Timothy Yates), Heather (Brock) Hendricks, and Corey (Melissa) Bell; his great-grandchildren, Dalton Pryor, Jaxon, Carter and Brody Hendricks, Jayden, Kamryn and Lawson Bell; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Richard Bell, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Richard Bell as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
