SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Dr. Norris A. Erickson of Aurora, who passed away on August 20, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Norris Erickson was born on April 6, 1944, in Davenport, Iowa, to Alvin and Lila Erickson; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Norris Erickson served in the U.S. Army from 1965-1967; he was stationed in Panama with the military police; he graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1972 following in the footsteps of his father, mother, and aunt; upon graduation he moved to Sandwich joining his aunt at her chiropractic office; he moved to Aurora in 1976 and opened Erickson Chiropractic Center; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Norris Erickson was 1 of 33 in the first graduating class at Palmer College to receive his LCP in 2000 in the Palmer Legion of Chiropractic Philosophers; in 2000, he was awarded with a Fellow in the Palmer Academy of Chiropractic for valued contributions to Palmer College and to the advancement of the chiropractic profession; he received a Distinguished Fellow from the International Chiropractic Association in recognition of outstanding contributions to patients, chiropractic, and humanity in 2001, and a Diplomate in Philosophical Chiropractic Standard by the International Chiropractic Association Council of Chiropractic Philosophy in 2005; he went on 2 chiropractic missions to Panama in 1986-1987; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Norris Erickson gave back to his community outside of his primary profession as well; he was the long serving commander on the Roosevelt Aurora Post 84 American Legion, past Kane County commander of the American Legion, and Passe Chef de Gare of 40&8 elite of the American Legion; he was instrumental in bringing the Moving Wall to Aurora in 1989, and in the renaming of Veterans' Island and the memorial on it dedicated to all veterans, past, present, and future; he was a member of the Masonic Lodge #254, Aurora Area Shrine Club, and the Aurora Airport board; he sponsored very successful softball teams in the 80's; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Norris Erickson is survived by his wife, Sally; his daughters, Krista Erickson Tetter, Karsta (Bill) Erickson, and Christine (Tom) Watt and son, Phillip Baratta; and his grandchildren, Kyra Erickson Tetter, Kelsen Erickson, Rocco Watt, and Anthony Watt; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Dr. Norris Erickson, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. Norris Erickson as an expression of our sincere condolences.
