SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply
3saddened to learn of the death of Dr. Norris A. Erickson of
4Aurora, who passed away on August 20, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Norris Erickson was born on April 6, 1944, in
6Davenport, Iowa, to Alvin and Lila Erickson; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dr. Norris Erickson served in the U.S. Army from
81965-1967; he was stationed in Panama with the military police;
9he graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1972
10following in the footsteps of his father, mother, and aunt;
11upon graduation he moved to Sandwich joining his aunt at her
12chiropractic office; he moved to Aurora in 1976 and opened
13Erickson Chiropractic Center; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Dr. Norris Erickson was 1 of 33 in the first
15graduating class at Palmer College to receive his LCP in 2000
16in the Palmer Legion of Chiropractic Philosophers; in 2000, he
17was awarded with a Fellow in the Palmer Academy of Chiropractic
18for valued contributions to Palmer College and to the
19advancement of the chiropractic profession; he received a
20Distinguished Fellow from the International Chiropractic
21Association in recognition of outstanding contributions to
22patients, chiropractic, and humanity in 2001, and a Diplomate

1in Philosophical Chiropractic Standard by the International
2Chiropractic Association Council of Chiropractic Philosophy in
32005; he went on 2 chiropractic missions to Panama in
41986-1987; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Norris Erickson gave back to his community
6outside of his primary profession as well; he was the long
7serving commander on the Roosevelt Aurora Post 84 American
8Legion, past Kane County commander of the American Legion, and
9Passe Chef de Gare of 40&8 elite of the American Legion; he was
10instrumental in bringing the Moving Wall to Aurora in 1989, and
11in the renaming of Veterans' Island and the memorial on it
12dedicated to all veterans, past, present, and future; he was a
13member of the Masonic Lodge #254, Aurora Area Shrine Club, and
14the Aurora Airport board; he sponsored very successful softball
15teams in the 80's; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Dr. Norris Erickson is survived by his wife,
17Sally; his daughters, Krista Erickson Tetter, Karsta (Bill)
18Erickson, and Christine (Tom) Watt and son, Phillip Baratta;
19and his grandchildren, Kyra Erickson Tetter, Kelsen Erickson,
20Rocco Watt, and Anthony Watt; therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
22ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
23Dr. Norris Erickson, and extend our sincere condolences to his

3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4presented to the family of Dr. Norris Erickson as an expression
5of our sincere condolences.
