SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jerry D. Vick of Johnston City, who passed away on February 4, 2011; and

WHEREAS, He was born June 23, 1943, in Johnston City; and

WHEREAS, He worked for the Illinois Department of Human Services as a quality control reviewer for 41 years; he was a graduate of Southern Illinois University Carbondale, with a Bachelor's degree in sociology; and

WHEREAS, He was a proud father and grandfather, who especially enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family; he was a veteran of the United States Army; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Buster Vick; and his mother, Erma Dale (nee Dean) Ramsey; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Vick is survived by his wife of 37 years, Betty (nee Cockrum) Vick, whom he married December 7, 1973; his children, Julie Webb Davis and her husband, Andrew and Jeremy D. Vick and his wife, Nicky; his grandchildren, Darrian Freeman, Nicholas Freeman, Lauren Freeman, and Allison Vick; his step-grandchildren, Natalie Eckrich and Oliver Davis; his brothers, Philip (Sharon) Vick and Bennie Vick; and his sister-in-law, Rickie Vick; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Jerry Vick; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jerry Vick as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
