SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Velma Hutte of Alton, who passed away on December 1, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Velma Hutte was born on September 6, 1919, in Roxana; her parents were William and Minnie (Hamilton) Crews; at the age of 16, she married Rudolph Sowders Sr.; she later married Earl Hutte on June 21, 1961, in East St. Louis; and

WHEREAS, Velma Hutte was employed as an inspector for the United States government at the Olin Corporation for 40 years until her retirement; and

WHEREAS, Velma Hutte was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Wood River; and

WHEREAS, Velma Hutte enjoyed traveling, flowers, and spending time with her grandchildren and her other family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Velma Hutte was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Hutte; her parents; her son, Rudolph C. Sowders Jr.; and her sister, Ruth Dreisbach; and

WHEREAS, Velma Hutte is survived by her daughter-in-law; Betty Sowders; her grandchildren, Rudolph Sowders III and his spouse, Susan, John Sowders and his spouse, Lee Ellen, Lisa Dublo and her spouse, Jeffrey Sr., Donna Droste, Jerry Sowders and his spouse, Donna, and Mark Sowders; her grandchildren, David Sowders, Angela Sowders, Matthew Sowders and his spouse, Victoria, Steven Sowders and his spouse, Michele, Logan Sowders, Kathy Sowders, Melissa and her spouse, Chris Dublo Winsel, Jeffrey Dublo Jr. and his spouse, Amanda, Michael Dublo, Joshua Droste and his spouse, Lindsey, Bethany Droste, Cole Sowders, and Natalie Sowders; her great-great-grandchildren, Jenna Dublo, Grant Dublo, and Jacob Winsel; her sisters, Maxine Burns and Norma Dean and her spouse, Floyd; her brother, Bill Crews and his spouse, Shirley; and her many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Velma Hutte; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Velma Hutte as an expression of our sympathy.
