SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of David E. Partney of Granite City, who passed away on July 18, 2011; and

WHEREAS, He was born on January 22, 1944 in Granite City to Donald and Dorothy (Yankee) Partney; he was a salesman and an estimator for Accurate Mechanical Contractors Inc. in Maryland Heights, Missouri; and

WHEREAS, He served as a 2nd Ward Alderman, a school board member, the school board president, a member of the Granite City Eagles Lodge, president of the Granite City Jaycees, and was an active member of various trade associations throughout his career; he was the owner and operator of the former Granite Sheet Metal Works Inc. for 40 years with his brothers; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Pamela Partney; and

WHEREAS, David Partney is survived by his wife, Janet (Morris) Partney, whom he married on September 16, 1967 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Granite City; his sons, David (Stacy) Partney and Douglas (Lora) Partney; his daughter, Denise Partney; his brother, Donald (Rose) Partney; his grandchildren, Briar, Andrew, Dillon, and Ella; his faithful companions, Harley, Mickey, and Meili; and his many nephews, nieces, and extended family and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of David Partney; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of David Partney as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
