SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Margaret "Maggie" Schwegel of Alton, who passed away on May 10, 2011; and

WHEREAS, She was born on December 1, 1938, in Winchester, the daughter of Floyd and Rowena (Freezen) Stice; she married Peter "Jabo" Schwegel on February 4, 1961, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton; and

WHEREAS, She was co-owner and operator of the State Street Tomboy Market for over 20 years and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton; she was an avid bingo player, and enjoyed playing games and socializing on the computer; her true joy was spending time with her family; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her sisters, Dorothy Moore and Ruby Schaberg; and her brothers, Bob Stice, Wayne Stice, and Joe Stice; and

WHEREAS, Margaret Schwegel is survived by her sons, Pete Schwegel and his wife, Tammy, and Mark Schwegel and Sabrina Colonna; her daughter, Sandy Schwegel and Randy Schmidt; her grandchildren, Lauren and Logan Schwegel; her sisters, Mary Jane and her spouse, Jim Mihalich and Freida and her spouse, Edwin Eyster; and her brothers, Dick and his spouse, Judy Stice and Jack Stice; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Margaret "Maggie" Schwegel; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Margaret "Maggie" Schwegel as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
