SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of William "Bill" Janes III of East Alton, who passed away on April 15, 2011; and

WHEREAS, He was born on September 22, 1953, in Alton, and was the son of Lorene McKean Janes of East Alton and the late William E. Janes Jr; he married the former Melodie Thomas on April 21, 1979, in Bethalto; and

WHEREAS, He was instrumental in the development of the Madison County 911 system and was employed by Madison County 911 since 1999; he was a member of the Lewis and Clark Amateur Radio Club; he was a longtime volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America; he volunteered at many local police and fire departments; and he was a member of the Emergency Management Mobile Command Unit; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his father, William E. Janes Jr.; his maternal grandparents, Pearl and Willard McKean; and his paternal grandparents, Esther and William Janes Sr.; and

WHEREAS, William Janes III is survived by his wife, Melodie; his sons and daughters-in-law, William E. and Michelle Janes and David and Amanda Janes; he was PawPaw to his one granddaughter, Josie Janes; he is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Kathy Janes; and several nieces and nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of William Janes III; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of William Janes III as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
