HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Joseph T. Mendoza of Aurora, who passed away on October 8, 2011; and

WHEREAS, He was born on August 1, 1932 in Chicago; he proudly served his country with the United States Army; and

WHEREAS, He was a longtime member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Aurora, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus; he was involved in various organizations, including serving as past president and charter member of the Montgomery Lions Club; he was a member of the East Aurora Sports Boosters, served on the East Aurora School Board, was a lifetime PTA member of Krug School, and was a dedicated volunteer for many years with the Montgomery Fest and Northeastern Special Olympics; and

WHEREAS, He became a member of the Starcraft Camping Club in 1969 where he made many friends and shared so many memories with his family; he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and dear friend to so many and he will be missed by all who knew him; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his mother, Guadalupe Salazar; his siblings, Julie Gutierrez and Tony Mendoza; and his grandson, Donald Joseph Gehler; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Mendoza is survived by his wife of 53 glorious years, Dolores (Corralejo); his children, Laura (Chris) Sandor, Loretta (Tom) Hebert, Josie (Ben) Gehler, Joe (Kris) Mendoza, Jim (Phyllis) Mendoza, and Mike (Claudette) Mendoza; his grandchildren, Eddie and Brian Sandor, Andrew, Katie, and Christopher Hebert, Kyle and Tim Gehler, Kristina and Carrie Mendoza, Matthew Mendoza, and Mikey and Emily Mendoza; he is also survived by his siblings, Mary Scialo, and Ralph Mendoza; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Joseph Mendoza; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joseph Mendoza as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
