HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Joseph T.
4Mendoza of Aurora, who passed away on October 8, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born on August 1, 1932 in Chicago; he
6proudly served his country with the United States Army; and
 
7    WHEREAS, He was a longtime member of Our Lady of Good
8Counsel Church in Aurora, where he was a member of the Knights
9of Columbus; he was involved in various organizations,
10including serving as past president and charter member of the
11Montgomery Lions Club; he was a member of the East Aurora
12Sports Boosters, served on the East Aurora School Board, was a
13lifetime PTA member of Krug School, and was a dedicated
14volunteer for many years with the Montgomery Fest and
15Northeastern Special Olympics; and
 
16    WHEREAS, He became a member of the Starcraft Camping Club
17in 1969 where he made many friends and shared so many memories
18with his family; he was a wonderful husband, father,
19grandfather, and dear friend to so many and he will be missed
20by all who knew him; and
 
21    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his mother, Guadalupe

1Salazar; his siblings, Julie Gutierrez and Tony Mendoza; and
2his grandson, Donald Joseph Gehler; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Joseph Mendoza is survived by his wife of 53
4glorious years, Dolores (Corralejo); his children, Laura
5(Chris) Sandor, Loretta (Tom) Hebert, Josie (Ben) Gehler, Joe
6(Kris) Mendoza, Jim (Phyllis) Mendoza, and Mike (Claudette)
7Mendoza; his grandchildren, Eddie and Brian Sandor, Andrew,
8Katie, and Christopher Hebert, Kyle and Tim Gehler, Kristina
9and Carrie Mendoza, Matthew Mendoza, and Mikey and Emily
10Mendoza; he is also survived by his siblings, Mary Scialo, and
11Ralph Mendoza; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of
15Joseph Mendoza; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Joseph Mendoza as a symbol of our
18sincere sympathy.
