HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Currently, numerous smartphone applications identify the location of police D.U.I. checkpoints and send warnings to drivers about the locations of the checkpoints; and

WHEREAS, Such programs can be used by a drunk driver to evade police sobriety checks and represent a very serious danger to the drivers of the State of Illinois and elsewhere; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we urge Congress and the U.S. Department of Transportation to pass legislation that curtails the use of police-checkpoint smartphone applications in the United States; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation and the members of the Illinois congressional delegation.
