HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Currently, numerous smartphone applications
3identify the location of police D.U.I. checkpoints and send
4warnings to drivers about the locations of the checkpoints; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Such programs can be used by a drunk driver to
6evade police sobriety checks and represent a very serious
7danger to the drivers of the State of Illinois and elsewhere;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we urge Congress and the U.S. Department of Transportation to
12pass legislation that curtails the use of police-checkpoint
13smartphone applications in the United States; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the Secretary of the U.S. Department of
16Transportation and the members of the Illinois congressional
17delegation.
